The Words!!!

Submission 1

I had the great privilege of watching Martin Martinez at the West End Market in Dallas Jan 2002.
The first thing to draw my attention was the music, which he paints by. Looking around I noticed a small crowd, being the curious sort I just HAD to go see for myself what was going on to garner all that attention.
Spell bound I watched Martin Martinez spray what at first seemed to be mindless glops of meaningless color, a bit of this, a touch of that, whoooosh a dab of fire...a lid, a piece of paper, a bit of magic and suddenly from what seemed nothing, was one of the most unique cosmic scenes I have ever seen.
OH WOW, INCREDIBLE...doesn't even begin to describe my awe. Then as Martin held up his work to display it, his assistant and new web artist, tells the crowd this item is for sale...I hold my breath, I WANT that painting, I just know I will never be able to afford it, no way....when the price is announced I am in disbelief, even as I shout out...I want it! SOLD...it is mine. I don't think I have ever cried out so fast to claim anything in my life, I just knew I had to have it.
2 hours later, I left the proud owner of not one, but two of his paintings.
By now the crowd surrounding Martin is considerably larger, I decide to give up my front row observation point, and let another on-looker move in.
I went straight from his street show to the Cosmo Universal Art Gallery, where unable to resist I bought a a key chain and another small painting. As I left, I found myself drawn back to that street corner..I wanted to watch him do "just one" last painting...Ummm how is it I walked away owning 4? I'll tell you how...
Martin was very kind, when I asked him to create two to compliment the ones I had already purchased. He looked them over carefully, asked me a few questions on how I wanted to be able to display them and created the perfect companion for each.

If you ever have the chance to see Martin Martinez at work, do not hesitate...do not set a time limit, this is no 20 minute look-see, you will be utterly fascinated...and whatever you do...make sure you take the time to view his gallery where his larger/more unique pieces are on exhibit.
